Version 3.2.0 removes the dependency on "has-binary2" and adds a dependency on "isarray" with a version specification of exactly "2.0.1". Additionally in the previous version the dependency to "isarray" was not explicited. Both versions share common dependencies like "debug" (version ~3.1.0) and "component-emitter" (version 1.2.1), ensuring core functionalities remain consistent. For developers, this dependency shift might signify updated handling of binary data or array manipulation within the parser. Notably, the development dependencies, crucial for testing and benchmarking, remain identical between the two versions, suggesting a focus on internal improvements. Both versions maintain the MIT license and reside in the same GitHub repository, indicating continuity in licensing and source code management. While the file count remains constant at 6, a slight increase in unpacked size from 16194 to 16643 bytes in version 3.2.0 suggests added code or resources. Upgrade to version 3.2.0 considering the dependency changes and conduct thorough testing regarding binary data to ensure compatibility.

Resource exhaustion in socket.io-parser
The socket.io-parser
npm package before versions 3.3.2 and 3.4.1 allows attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) via a large packet because a concatenation approach is used.
Insufficient validation when decoding a Socket.IO packet
Due to improper type validation in the socket.io-parser
library (which is used by the socket.io
and socket.io-client
packages to encode and decode Socket.IO packets), it is possible to overwrite the _placeholder object which allows an attacker to place references to functions at arbitrary places in the resulting query object.
