Both versions share core functionalities, dependencies like engine.io for the underlying transport mechanism, and essential utilities such as debug for logging. Their declared development dependencies for testing and linting demonstrate a continued investment on code quality.
The key difference lies in the updated socket.io-client version listed in the devDependencies section. Version 4.1.2 uses socket.io-client: "4.1.2" compared to 4.1.1 using socket.io-client: "4.1.1". This indicates a synchronized release, possibly encompassing bug fixes or enhancements in the client-side library that aligns directly with the server-side counterpart. Developers should check release notes for both packages.
Furthermore, the unpackedSize is slightly larger in version 4.1.2 (1025237 bytes) compared to 4.1.1 (1024654 bytes), suggesting added code or assets. Release date also differs, with version 4.1.2 rolled out on May 17, 2021, following version 4.1.1's release on May 11, 2021. If stability is paramount, understanding the changes within the client might be preferable, whereas if you require any bug fixes that the last release has solved, you may want to update straight away.
